Sights and Sounds of College Towns

Here are some of the audio-visual highlights from the first quarter of first quarter. I'll probably remember at least six things after I post, so don't be surprised if the list mysteriously grows on its own . . .

- A refrigerator in a Biology work lab with an original manufacturer's sticker on the front that says "EXPLOSION PROOF!"

- A tumbleweed of what appeared to be mice hair

- "You know when you're in [indiscernible Hindi word] and you totally don't remember the words to the [another indiscernible Hindi word]?! So you're just like, [30-second chain of indiscernible Hindi words]?" -Russell Peterson, Indian comic, at the Moore Theater. The sold-out crowd was 85% Indian, 10% Other Asian, 5% Black and White. They all loved that joke.

- "Buy me some ham and eggs before I bite you" - The Girl (Veronica Lake), Sullivan's Travels (1941)

- "Now quit saying that or I'll poke you in the nose." - John L. Sullivan (Joel McCrea), Sullivan's Travels (1941)

- A Louisiana Crayfish lovingly named "Mike Brown" (look him up in the news) in Biology 104: Biology for Elementary School Teachers. A class that also includes bug eyes and crickeats.
